Trent Reznor was born on May 17, 1965, to parents Michael Reznor and Nancy Lou in New Castle, Pennsylvania. His roots have been successfully traced to the business mogul, George Reznor, founder of the heating and air conditioning establishment, The Reznor Company, which was founded in 1888.

His parents got divorced when he was just six years old. His childhood was difficult after his parents got separated. With the help of his grandparents, he only got through it; especially his maternal grandmother.

Reznor was very attached to music since his childhood. He started playing piano at the age of twelve, he was like gifted in music. He learns and catches a thing very fast. He is also good at skateboarding and building model planes. He learned to play saxophone and tuba at Mercer Area Junior/Senior High school and he was active member of marching bands and school’ jazz.

He was good at theater in his school days, his classmates voted for him as “Best in Drama” for his roles as Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar. He graduated in 1983 and he studied computer engineering at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania.

Since his childhood he was more focused in his musical career. In his high school days he joined with local band Option 30 and played three shows a week. His career began as an assistant engineer and janitor at Cleveland’s Right Track Studio, but before that, he joined the cover band, Urge, before moving on to The Innocent where he worked for only three months as a keyboard player; in 1985. He joined Exotic Birds the following year; a local band and even appeared with them as a fictional band called The Problems in the 1987 film Light of Day.

Michael Trent Reznor is the founding and primary member of the Nine Inch Nails, from where he did an incredible work as musician. Reznor’s first official release under the Nine Inch Nails name is Pretty Hate Machine in 1989. The second full length album of Nine Inch Nail “The Downward Spiral” reached at number two in Billboard 200 chart in 1994 and became the highest selling albums in America.

Reznor has received several awards for his work including the 2011 Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score (with Atticus Ross) and the Academy Award for Original Score for their work on 2010 drama The Social Network. In 2012, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross were nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score for the film Girl with a Dragon Tattoo . A year later, they won the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media. Ross and Reznor’s film, Gone Girl score was nominated at the 5th Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA) in 2014 for Best Original Score in a feature film.
